Warwick House was built in 1854 and is one of the finest examples of early Victorian opulence and grandeur in New Zealand. The house was extended in the late 1870s to include three towers, a spiral staircase and an impressive ballroom. Warwick House was a major venue for lavish entertainment by early New Zealand politicians and leading merchants. Warwick House first operated as a gentlemen's boarding house in the early 1890s and has now been reopened to the public as one of Nelson's most stylish and luxurious locations for boutique accommodation and private receptions.
