Things to See and Do

Half and full-day coach tours of Christchurch and surrounding districts…

  • Tour the beautiful residential gardens for which Christchurch is famous.
  • Visit Ferrymead Transport Museum and ride the vintage trams and buses.
  • Walk the Bridle Path where our first settlers walked over the hills from the Port of Lyttelton to Christchurch.
  • Orana Wildlife Park where lions and zebras roam free.
  • The snow-fed rivers of Canterbury are the home of the jet boat. If you're here between October and March, be sure to take a trip!
  • Around Banks Peninsula is Akaroa, originally French settlement. It is very picturesque, still bearing many streets and placenames in French.
  • Fish the famous salmon and trout rivers of Canterbury.
  • Mount Hutt Skifield is just 1.5 hours away, and during its long season (May to November) you can expect some of the finest skiing in the Southern Hemisphere.
  • Two hours drive away is Arthurs Pass, a mecca for tramping, climbing and shooting enthusiasts.
  • Hanmer Springs and its thermal pools can also be reached in under two hours.
  • Walk or cycle the Christchurch to Little River Rail Trail.
